Job Overview

Summary: People's Family of Corporations is on the lookout for a dedicated Substance Use Treatment Counselor to provide comprehensive support for individuals dealing with opiate addiction and various substance use disorders. This role encompasses individual and group therapy, assessment, therapeutic interventions, and the development of personalized treatment plans. The counselor will also engage in ongoing follow-up, case management, and client advocacy, ensuring a supportive environment for clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough substance use assessments, orientations, and biopsychosocial evaluations, while maintaining accurate and confidential documentation of client progress and treatment records.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and organizations to facilitate effective treatment pathways for clients.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports and documentation, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, service providers, and the community.
  • Utilize various counseling theories and techniques to assist clients and their families in gathering information and understanding program objectives.
  • Tailor counseling approaches to respect cultural, gender, and lifestyle differences, ensuring that treatment plans are aligned with client needs.
  • Maintain a manageable caseload while meeting productivity expectations.
  • Represent the program in community outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • Current certification as an Associate Substance Abuse Counselor I or II (RASAC I or II) and/or licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or Clinical Social Worker (LGSW).
  • Experience in direct care within substance use treatment environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical theories, treatment methodologies, and issues related to addiction and recovery.
  • Strong ethical standards in counseling practices.
  • Valid driver's license and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.

Proven ability to adapt to change, manage conflicts, make decisions, facilitate group processes, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
