Pharmacy Technician Assistant

Job Summary
This position, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assists in the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical products to patients in a timely and accurate fashion and in accordance with established regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists pharmacist(s) in filling medication orders
- Preparing medications and supplies for dispensing, including:
- Repackaging bulk medications
- Compounding ointments and creams, oral solutions, and other medications
- Delivers medications to patient care areas and retrieves pharmacy related items
- Accurately restocks automated dispensing cabinets according to inventory levels
- Charges and credits patient profiles for medications used or returned to the pharmacy
- Assists with inventory management by stocking fluids and medications on shelves
- Inspects assigned out of date sections and/or nursing units or operating rooms on a monthly basis
- Answers phone calls and handles questions that do not require pharmacist expertise or judgment and routes calls to the appropriate party as necessary
- Maintains compliance and understanding of Compounding Sterile Products Policy and USP
- Prepares IVs, PCAs, Epidurals in accordance with CSP Policy and USP
- Assists with training and orientation of new teammates to department workflow and procedures

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire
- 0-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
