Protein Engineering Scientist/Senior Scientist

Position Summary: The Protein Engineering Scientist/Senior Scientist plays a crucial role in overseeing, executing, and coordinating research laboratory activities. This position demands significant expertise in antibody therapeutics, protein engineering, molecular biology, purification, and characterization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the engineering of novel biologic drugs focusing on therapeutic multi-specific antibodies and ADCs.
- Utilize structural and sequence analysis to inform the design of proteins and expression plasmids, employing software tools such as Pymol, Chimera, IgBlast, Discovery Studio, abYsis, and Geneious.
- Contribute to the optimization, selection, and validation of candidates based on stability and essential drug-like characteristics.
- Conduct cloning, mammalian cell line expression, purification, and characterization of protein constructs, while engineering potential post-translational modification sites through a structure-guided approach.
- Develop comprehensive strategies for protein engineering aimed at enhancing antibody stability across various physiological conditions.
- Employ computational tools to create homology models and assess their properties through in silico simulations.
- Perform protein analytics, including biolayer interferometry, dynamic light scattering, SDS-PAGE, and HPLC.
- Draft and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for regulatory submissions, laboratory operations, experimental design, data analysis, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to further the objectives of the company.
- Coordinate with the R&D and manufacturing teams, ensuring effective communication and technical support.
- Participate in planning timelines and making decisions regarding research priorities, providing insights on project feasibility.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education & Experience:
Ph.D. in a relevant field with a minimum of four years of experience in protein engineering.
- Strong scientific foundation in structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and protein purification and characterization.
- Experience in therapeutic antibody engineering is essential.
Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondences, and memos. Proficient in writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in small group settings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for collaboration with internal and external partners. Proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in different formats. Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills are required.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with email communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may involve supervisory duties.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes a cell culture laboratory and a standard office setting with typical business equipment and moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to sit for extended periods and operate standard laboratory and office equipment.
