About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. as a Cloud Computing Expert. As a key member of our CloudWatch Logs development team, you will be responsible for developing next-generation scientific methods and infrastructure to support our core business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Design and implement algorithms that improve the training of foundation models across pre-training, multitask learning, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning from human feedback.
  • Anomaly Detection and Root Cause Analysis: Develop novel approaches for detecting anomalies and identifying root causes in vast amounts of monitoring and observability data.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product managers across the CloudWatch team, as well as directly with customers, to drive innovation and deliver high-quality services.
Requirements
  • PhD or Master's Degree: A PhD or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Machine Learning Experience: 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications, with a strong background in neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages, with experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, and SciPy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Compensation

The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
