Position Overview:

This role is situated within the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The Hull Systems Engineer will directly support the Ship Design Managers and Hull System Engineering Manager. The candidate will function as a System Engineer within the Hull Group, with occasional travel expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical support and evaluate risks associated with technical decisions for Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers and System Engineering Manager.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, research, and problem resolution leveraging operational experience.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received through various channels.
  • Participate in and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alterations and Technical Assessment Team reviews for Ship Change Documents.
  • Review Technical Feedback Reports for Planned Maintenance System changes requiring Designated Technical Representative review.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, and other relevant entities to resolve technical issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of experience with U.S. Navy vessel structures, hull integrity, and ship stability.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrications.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a shipyard or with Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Centers, supporting various aspects of shipboard electrical systems.
  • Experience collaborating with technical authorities.
  • Experience in an engineering role working alongside program managers.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess an active or current Secret security clearance and U.S. Citizenship.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a significant portion of the time.
  • Frequent communication with colleagues, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

The projected compensation range for this position is $84,900-$141,100. Factors that can influence the final salary include relevant work experience, skills, geographic location, education, and certifications. ManTech also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and professional development opportunities.
