POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized environment to help prevent the transmission of germs. This role involves executing routine cleaning tasks as well as special projects according to established protocols and goals.

Utilizes various cleaning equipment, including electrostatic sprayers, automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, and other essential tools, chemicals, and supplies.

Ensures thorough disinfection of all high-traffic areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Duties:
Conduct general cleaning of all designated areas within the facility as instructed.
Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing wellness floors, countertops, meeting rooms, restrooms, break rooms, and communal spaces.
Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables, which may involve transporting waste to designated collection points.
Sanitize metal fixtures and fittings.

Execute non-routine cleaning tasks as per specific job orders, respond to emergency cleaning requests, and undertake heavy cleaning assignments as needed.

Report any necessary repairs or replacements encountered during cleaning.
Properly mix and dispose of all cleaning solutions.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Ensure safe and sanitary storage and handling of cleaning products.
Uphold all safety protocols and cleaning standards throughout the workday as required by the department.

Branch Facilities:
Disinfect surfaces and high-touch areas.
Sweep and/or vacuum floors as necessary.
Spot-clean, sweep stairs, or shampoo carpets when required.
Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Restrooms/Locker Rooms:
Clean countertops, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, and other surfaces.
Restock consumables such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizers.
Empty trash and sanitary receptacles.
Dust vents and fans.
Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee frequently needs to reach and navigate the work environment.
Must be able to lift or carry weights ranging from 20 to 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Capacity to follow directions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stretch, push, pull, and lift repetitively during working hours.
Ability to manage heavy janitorial equipment and tools.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including proper storage and disposal methods, as well as cleaning techniques.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively with a partner or team.
Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to job responsibilities.
Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines.
Excellent time management skills.

Must successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements and adhere to the Association's background screening policies.
Compliance with drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.

Completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class.
Completion of the YMCA's Blood Borne Pathogens training.
Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols.
Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor.

Salary: $17.00 per hour
