Patient Access Representative Occupational Health

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Access Representative to join our Occupational Health team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient access to our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, guests, and family members, ensuring a positive experience throughout the patient care process.
- Efficiently input patient demographic and financial information, explaining insurance benefits and collecting co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform vital signs and other screenings, obtaining height, weight, allergy, and medication history, and other assessments.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments by phone or in person, including transferring patients to the appropriate departments for scheduling and updating necessary information.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, and adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
- Related experience in a clinic or medical office setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required; Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred.
The physical demands of this role include frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases.
