Job Title: Patient Access Representative

At LCMC Health, we're committed to delivering exceptional patient care with heart. As a Patient Access Representative, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides Assistance to Patients:
    • Greet patients, guests, and family members with a warm and courteous demeanor.
    • Schedule patients for services with the appropriate provider at the desired time.
    • Analyze patient information to determine if an account already exists.
    • Create an account for patients who present for services, including walk-in, non-scheduled, and emergency services.
    • Register patients by entering accurate demographic, financial class, and insurance information.
    • Initiate bed placement, reservation, transfer, and/or discharge based on requests from clinical providers.
    • Assist patients with understanding their financial obligations and setting up payment arrangements.
  • Completes the Patient Registration and Admissions Process:
    • Request and document patient demographic, insurance, guarantor, MSP, and PCP/Referring Physician information.
    • Ensure patient/guarantor sign all applicable documentation, such as consents and financial assistance loan application.
    • Scan ID, insurance cards, orders, authorization information, etc. to patient's account.
    • Perform insurance verification tasks, including running automated eligibility response and completing notification of admission.
  • Performs Financial Analysis of Each Case:
    • Inform patient/guarantor of liability due, including prior balances and estimates for scheduled service.
    • Attempt to collect payment.
    • Refer to financial counseling as needed.
  • Provides Excellent Customer Service:
    • Promote a customer-centered experience by performing all functions in a warm and courteous manner.
    • Answer incoming calls and transfer calls to appropriate areas of the department.
    • Provide directions to applicable areas of interest.
    • Schedule and reschedule appointments for patients as needed.
The Must-Haves:
  • 2 Years of Experience in Customer Service/Healthcare.
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Or 2 Years of applicable experience in lieu of education.
