Position Overview

The Lead Medical Assistant Specialist at Houston Methodist Primary Care Group plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care. This position is designed for an individual who exhibits advanced knowledge and expertise in performing intricate medical examinations and treatments. Under the direct supervision of a Physician or Registered Nurse, the Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for executing delegated medical assistant tasks for specific patient demographics, ensuring high-quality support in patient services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Support: Assist with patient evaluations, procedures, diagnostic assessments, and treatment protocols, including dressing changes.
  • Administrative Duties: Conduct general administrative tasks in compliance with regulatory standards such as CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA, alongside company policies.
  • Patient Interaction: Engage with patients to gather vital signs, document medical histories, and facilitate communication regarding their care.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care and maintain effective communication regarding patient status.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for other Medical Assistants, providing training and guidance as needed.
Essential Functions

In this role, you will model and promote a positive work environment, contributing to team efforts and resolving issues proactively. Your ability to communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team will be vital in delivering optimal patient care.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in medical assistance, particularly in complex disease management.
  • Required certifications, including Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
