Lead Medical Assistant - Cardiology (Healthcare Facility)

At Houston Methodist, we are looking for an experienced Lead Medical Assistant Certified (LMA) to join our Cardiology division. This role involves delivering exceptional support in patient management, performing advanced assessments and treatments under direct oversight, and ensuring adherence to all applicable standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Exemplifies and fosters a constructive work atmosphere, encouraging collaboration and resolving issues within the team.Engages with interprofessional healthcare team members, effectively communicating and documenting patient care details.Serves as a mentor, guiding and supporting colleagues to ensure high-quality patient care.SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Delivers patient care under supervision, completing pre-visit preparations and documentation.Interacts with patients, records vital signs, and updates medical history in the electronic medical record (EMR).Conducts follow-ups with patients to guarantee adherence to recommendations and care coordination.QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Documents clinical findings, performs routine examinations, and maintains examination rooms and equipment.FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Utilizes resources effectively, manages time efficiently, and orders supplies as necessary.GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEnhances team members' skills, engages in professional growth, and proposes innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent.WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five years of experience as a medical assistant in a specialized field.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
Certification as RMA or CMA, along with EMT certification and BLS.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
CPT certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possesses the necessary skills to perform the role safely and effectively.Fluent in English, with strong communication, medical practice, and patient care skills.Able to collaborate within a team, uphold quality assurance, and deliver compassionate care.Proficient in computer skills, committed to ongoing training, and capable of building effective relationships.Understands clinical disease processes and demonstrates advanced assessment skills.
