Job Title: Medical Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Life's WORC. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Accompany and advocate for individuals on medical and dental appointments, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are protected.
  • Schedule medical appointments in coordination with the Nurse and Manager, ensuring seamless communication and follow-up.
  • Maintain a medical appointment calendar, keeping track of upcoming appointments and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Meet with the Nurse and Manager weekly to coordinate information and ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Provide ongoing protective oversight to individuals living in the residence, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Implement active treatment plans, working closely with the Nurse and Manager to ensure effective care.
  • Assist individuals with basic activities of daily living, providing training and support as needed.
  • Perform daily checks of medication and supplies, ensuring accurate inventory and timely replenishment.
  • Complete the AMAP course and annual recertification for administration purposes, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Drive agency vans equipped with GPS monitoring systems, demonstrating safe driving practices and adhering to company policies.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring proper use and maintenance of household equipment and appliances.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Minimum six months' experience with Life's WORC or similar agency in a Support Counselor or health-related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid NY State Driver's License required
