Job Summary

The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) is a critical member of the Emergency Department team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ongoing patient care duties in the ER, including vital sign collection, patient observation, and documentation.
  • Assist licensed personnel with crisis intervention, patient transport, and emergency procedures.
  • Utilize S-BAR format to verbally report and document patient information.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, including blood samples and vital signs.
  • Participate in the triage process, assisting with patient transport and communication with clinical staff.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in a healthcare setting, including experience as a first responder and patient care technician.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of physical fitness and manual dexterity.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to utilize S-BAR format.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on patient care and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medic Corpsman experience as an ICT, with recent ER experience preferred.
Work Schedule

Variable tours with weekend and holiday requirements.
