Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Tax Strategy Manager to become a vital part of our Credits, Incentives, and Methods (CIM) team. In this role, you will deliver tax consulting and advisory services focused on Research and Development (R&D) tax credits. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting R&D tax credit studies, assessing R&D activities and associated costs, and compiling necessary documentation.
  • Developing methodologies to assist clients in quantifying and substantiating past, present, and future credits.
  • Providing support during IRS and state controversies and appeals concerning the R&D credit.
Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, you will:

  • Lead a team of professionals dedicated to identifying, documenting, and supporting tax positions related to federal tax credits and incentives.
  • Engage in tax planning and research, addressing complex tax issues, and offering strategic recommendations regarding R&D tax credits and other federal incentives.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes affecting tax credits and incentives.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in evaluating intricate scenarios involving various credit and incentive opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with core Federal tax professionals to ensure exceptional service delivery to all clients.
  • Oversee multiple R&D tax credit engagements, providing leadership and direction to your team.
  • Build and maintain client relationships that contribute significantly to revenue and margin goals.
  • Participate actively in business development efforts with existing clients and formulate marketing strategies to attract new clients.
  • Mentor and develop team members, manage profitable engagements, and create service offerings in collaboration with Washington National Tax.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting or a professional services firm.
  • A proven history of successful tax planning with a focus on federal credits and incentives, particularly R&D tax credits.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • CPA, EA, or J.D./LL.M credentials.
  • A comprehensive understanding of corporate tax matters across various industries.
  • Experience in managing tax consulting professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar software.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and the capacity to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership and business development skills.
