Unmanned Aircraft Systems Crew Leader

Position Overview:

AEVEX Aerospace is in search of a skilled Aircraft Mechanic/Crew Chief to oversee ground and flight operations, as well as the maintenance of unmanned aircraft systems and their components in a training and flight test setting. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in high-performance flight line operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on Unmanned Light Sport Aircraft within a training framework.
  • Ensure daily ground servicing and maintenance activities are completed to guarantee aircraft airworthiness.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and execute necessary follow-up maintenance actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive digital and paper logs for all maintenance actions performed on aircraft and engines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
  • Inspect aircraft structures for defects and recommend or execute repair actions as needed.
  • Review maintenance manuals for quality control and procedural verification.
  • Provide logistics and quality assurance recommendations as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily maintenance and flight operation objectives.
  • Utilize advanced software technologies for maintenance documentation and operational support.
  • Must be eligible for deployment to overseas locations, with the flexibility to reside anywhere in the country.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Flight Line or Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) maintenance and operations.
  • Active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Aircraft Systems and their operational theory.
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Technical Manuals, including General Systems and Fault Isolation.
  • Possession of a current Class III medical certificate or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Experience with ROTAX 91X series engines is preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate and/or Inspection Authorization (IA) is a plus.
  • Advanced Technical or Associate degree is preferred.
  • Experience in composite/fiberglass fabrication and repair is highly desirable.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-performance team environment.
  • Must meet all deployment requirements for the CENTCOM AOR.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Occasional sitting and reaching to operate computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent close and distant vision tasks requiring hand-eye coordination.
  • Frequent overhead reaching and reaching at or below shoulder level.
  • Frequent operation of motor vehicles and hand tools.
  • Exposure to high noise levels and adverse weather conditions is constant.
