Position Overview:
Shift: Monday-Friday 4:30am-12:30pm
Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a dedicated Addiction Recovery Counselor to support individuals on their journey to overcome dependencies on opioids and other harmful substances. The ideal candidate possesses the expertise to assist clients in navigating the behavioral health challenges associated with the escalating opioid crisis. Your role will involve leading both individual and group therapy sessions, as well as collaborating with patients on their treatment plans and coping mechanisms. Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Is enthusiastic about working in an outpatient environment, similar to a clinical setting.
  • Is open to engaging with diverse and economically disadvantaged populations.
  • Values mentorship and is prepared to guide and develop fellow counseling team members.

To excel in this position, you must be capable of:
  • Managing a caseload in accordance with regulatory standards and ratios.
  • Facilitating and co-facilitating educational presentations, group therapy, and individual counseling sessions.
  • Incorporating family and natural support systems into the client's treatment, based on the client's preferences.
  • Staying informed about advancements in the field of substance use as mandated by state licensure requirements.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with other substance use specialists, programs, and associations.
  • Mentoring less experienced CMS counselors as necessary.
  • Conducting thorough behavioral health assessments and creating individualized treatment plans that comply with regulatory standards and address unique client needs.
  • Evaluating treatment effectiveness through ongoing assessments of the client and their support systems, which may lead to adjustments in the service plan.
  • Coordinating care across regions or states prior to the cessation of services.
  • Maintaining comprehensive client records.
  • Acting as the primary contact for coordination and communication with other systems where clinical insights are essential.
  • Assisting in the screening and coordination of primary care services for clients.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
No license required.
Active LAC license or higher preferred.
Experience in behavioral health counseling or case management preferred.
