Job Overview
A Technical Editor and Writer is tasked with composing, revising, and/or refining technical documents, including procedure manuals, user guides, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related publications. The goal is to convey technical specifications and instructions clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including military personnel. This role necessitates the initiative to gain subject matter expertise through interviews with product developers, observing production methods, and referencing technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and industry publications. Additionally, this position involves active participation in the preparation of illustrative materials, including the selection of drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Quality reviews of technical manuals are also a key responsibility.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
6 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 10 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in IETM authoring and development is advantageous. Familiarity with unmanned aircraft and ground segment systems, such as Interim COMSEC Solutions (ICS), is highly desirable. Leadership experience utilizing AGILE and JIRA best practices is preferred. A general understanding of S1000D, SGML, or XML authoring software, common source databases, and technical publication development processes is beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Extensive knowledge of industry practices. Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks.
Problem Solving: Develops solutions to a variety of complex challenges. May refer to established precedents and policies.

Salary Range: $69,600 - $104,400. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
