Job OverviewA DAY IN THE LIFE AS A RETAIL OPERATIONS LEADER

As a Retail Operations Leader, you are essential in advancing our mission to deliver employment-related services to the community by engaging in all facets of the store's daily activities. Each day presents a unique blend of variety and routine. Your responsibilities will include training team members in customer engagement, managing cash transactions, assisting with donations, evaluating, sorting, and pricing pre-owned merchandise, moving priced items to the sales floor, rotating older inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the store.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RETAIL OPERATIONS LEADER

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a retail environment. Familiarity with second-hand goods is advantageous. This individual must be reliable and available to work during our operational hours.

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours), bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull at least 30 pounds, reach overhead, and operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks to facilitate product movement throughout the store and production areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplify and uphold company values consistently.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to patrons and donors at all times.
  • Efficiently operate the cash register, process various payment methods, and accurately handle cash transactions, including daily reconciliations.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production and sales targets by:
    • Sorting, hanging, pricing, and rolling textiles according to established standards.
    • Assessing donations, identifying defects, evaluating quality, and categorizing used goods for pricing and distribution to the sales floor.
  • Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks and managing donations.
  • Help prepare employee schedules, approve timecards, oversee recruitment, manage supply orders, and perform other administrative tasks as directed by management.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and engage in proactive management practices throughout your shift.
  • Understand and execute all Kaizen processes promptly and accurately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Management Team to support the mission of Goodwill Industries.
  • To enhance customer and donor satisfaction, it is essential for employees interacting with the public to maintain a positive attitude and project a courteous, helpful demeanor at all times.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, eagerness to learn, dependability, and promptness.
  • Actively promote safety and loss prevention policies and report any issues immediately.
  • Answer incoming calls with a positive attitude, using a standard greeting.
  • Make periodic store announcements over the PA system.
  • Assist customers with fitting room access.
  • Maintain general housekeeping, including stocking merchandise, managing returns, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, and re-merchandising as necessary.
  • Participate in monthly meetings as required.
  • *Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, along with reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record.
  • **Must obtain AZDES Fingerprint Clearance within 90 days of employment.
  • **Must complete and maintain specialized training, including CPR/First Aid, Article 9, Prevention & Support, and Certified Monitor Training.

*Necessary for travel between locations as required.

**Essential for providing services to clients of the AZ DES Division of Developmental Disabilities.
