JOB SUMMARY:

This position entails comprehensive leadership in overseeing the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products throughout The Idaho Foodbank (IFB) network comprising over 400 partner agencies. The Chief Operations Officer is responsible for inventory management, ERP software protocols, transportation logistics, food safety adherence, and facility oversight across multiple locations.

As the central figure in formulating and implementing strategic objectives for internal organizational enhancement, this role is crucial in propelling the success of tactical initiatives to achieve defined goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY RESULT AREAS
  • Strategic Vision and Planning:
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, CEO, and executive team to devise strategic frameworks essential for managing ongoing operations and projected growth.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and needs evaluations to pinpoint mission-related challenges and opportunities.
  • Perform research to scrutinize operational trends for strategic planning and daily issue resolution.
  • Organizational Development:
  • Attract, inspire, and lead a high-performing team dedicated to customer service across operations.
  • Recruit management team members aligned with effectively executing organizational objectives.
  • Oversee staff workflow, promote professional development, and ensure accountability for achieving goals.
  • Direct succession planning and business continuity strategies within operations.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
  • Examine financial statements, legal documents, and operational data.
  • Present forecasts and key performance indicators to the organization at suitable intervals.
  • Conduct audits to evaluate costs, demand, and service capacity for goal alignment.
  • Leverage ERP systems for optimal management of warehousing, inventory, labor, and transportation.
  • Process Development and Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives that enhance operational workflows and productivity while delivering value to customers.
  • Provide guidance on operational policies, process enhancements, and new initiatives.
  • Implement controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • System Oversight:
  • Oversee warehousing, food distribution, safety, security, procurement, and equipment maintenance.
  • Supervise transportation and logistics for effective food distribution.
  • Ensure adherence to grant and contract operational requirements.
  • System Integration:
  • Develop business plans, budgets, and manage projects for operational efficiency.
  • Initiate cross-functional projects to establish standard operating procedures and quality control.
  • Communication:
  • Represent the organization in community initiatives and meetings.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders for operational support.
  • Participate in and lead board and operational meetings.
  • Establish communication protocols for improved information dissemination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operations for a large organization.
  • Experience with DOT regulations is valued.
  • Food safety and safety training are preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certifications are advantageous.
  • Expertise in facility and inventory management, ERP software, and transportation logistics.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Navision/MS Dynamics is beneficial.

Candidates should possess substantial experience in warehouse and facility management and hold a valid driver's license for travel requirements.

Working Conditions:

This role involves office work with occasional lifting and off-hour projects that may necessitate travel.
