Job Summary

This role is crucial to the operation of Valley Storage and will work outside to maintain buildings, clean units, and maintain the grounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the site is clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and repair of structures, vehicles, and equipment to ensure they remain in a safe, operational condition.
  • Supervise occasional contract labor as needed.
  • Maintain the site location to be clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Manage the purchases of materials for repair and maintenance of storages and equipment.
  • Ordering of major parts and materials.
  • Resolve routine customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Successfully foster customer relations involving irritated customers with simple problems and past due accounts.
  • Office operations in absence of supervisor and office personnel in renting, receiving payments, and responding to customer questions.
  • Operate office equipment such as copiers, calculators, personal computers, and typewriters.
  • May maintain office supplies and ensure the maintenance of office equipment.
  • Answers the telephone, takes messages, or directs calls, and places outgoing calls.
  • Covers department phones during meetings and employee absences.
  • Greets and directs walk-in traffic, aids, and coordinates various drop-offs and pickups.
  • Operation of heavy equipment to clean the grounds, control weeds, enhance the site landscaping, and flatten/grade the parking area.
  • Operates a Grader 12 and 970 Bobcat front-end loader.
  • Serves as central information and forms disbursement center.
  • Performs general clerical duties as needed such as processing mail, filing, alphabetizing records, and completing forms and reports.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and reports problems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Relevant experience: 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Required certifications: Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and heavy equipment (Grader and front-end loader) operation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of small equipment repair.
  • General plumbing knowledge and application.
  • General electrical knowledge and application.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of small tools, power tools, welders, and torches.
  • Ability to operate a grader and front-end loader.
  • Ability to follow safety practices and procedures applicable to tasks performed.
  • Willingness and ability to work at building and pole heights.
  • Ability to communicate with the public.
  • Ability to manage contractors to maximize efficiency while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and have extensive mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Must be proficient with computer use.
