Job Overview

This role is vital in safeguarding ICOM's property and assets while maintaining a prominent presence on campus to deter illegal and inappropriate activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of college property and personnel.
  • Observe the premises for any signs of criminal activity or disturbances and take appropriate action.
  • Act within legal boundaries to protect life and property.
  • Document and report any suspicious incidents thoroughly.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the campus and surrounding areas.
  • Manage access control at building entrances.
  • Oversee the campus surveillance system to identify unlawful or inappropriate behavior.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency response teams to enhance campus safety.
  • Perform foot patrols in parking areas to ensure compliance with parking regulations.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Adhere to ICOM's policies and procedures.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No supervisory duties.

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of a U.S. police training academy or equivalent.
  • Retired law enforcement officer with at least 10 years of experience and eligibility for a concealed carry weapon under applicable laws.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of security protocols and safety practices.
  • Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment effectively.
  • Strong observational and surveillance skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient with technology related to surveillance systems.
  • Physically capable of conducting patrols in various conditions.
  • Thorough understanding of public safety procedures.
  • Exemplary integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in the use of issued firearms and must maintain qualification standards.
