The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) Campus Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a secure and protected environment for all ICOM faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This role involves safeguarding ICOM property and assets, maintaining a prominent presence on campus, and deterring any unlawful or inappropriate conduct.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safety of College property and personnel by fostering a secure environment.
Observe the premises for indications of criminal activity or disturbances and respond to incidents.
Act within legal boundaries to defend life and property.
Document any suspicious or unusual occurrences in detail.
Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings and surrounding areas.
Manage and monitor access at building entrances.
Oversee campus security surveillance systems to identify unlawful or inappropriate actions.

Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies to uphold campus safety.

Perform foot patrols in parking areas to verify that vehicles display valid parking permits and enforce parking regulations in line with state laws.

Foster and maintain positive relationships with ICOM students and staff.
Adhere to ICOM policies and procedures.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No supervisory duties.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a U.S. police training academy or an equivalent program.

Retired law enforcement personnel with at least 10 years of experience and the ability to qualify for a concealed carry under applicable laws.

Must successfully pass a background check conducted by the FBI and the state of Idaho.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Comprehensive understanding of security operations, safety protocols, and enforcement methods.
Proficient in operating detection systems and emergency response equipment.
Exceptional surveillance and observational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Technologically adept with experience in security monitoring systems.

Physically capable of conducting foot patrols across various terrains and weather conditions.

Thorough knowledge of public safety and security protocols.
Exhibit integrity and professionalism.
Demonstrate proficiency with issued firearms and maintain required qualification standards.
