Job Title: Youth Development Staff

Join the YMCA of Orange County team as a Youth Development Staff member and make a positive impact on the lives of school-age children in our community.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to work with our school-age children (K-6th grade) in the West Covina area. As a Youth Development Staff member, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing curriculum-aligned activities that promote youth success, social-emotional learning, and physical education.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement engaging activities that align with our curriculum and promote youth success.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages program engagement and participation.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to ensure participant safety and program excellence.
  • Support youth in making positive choices and implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Attend and participate in staff development workshops, meetings, and trainings.
  • Record and maintain daily attendance and other documentation as required.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who possess a high school diploma or equivalent and 6 units in Child Development or a related field. Prior experience working with children is preferred. Teacher 1 and 2 require 6 months of experience working with children, while Teacher 3 requires one year of experience. Pediatric (EMSA) First Aid and Pediatric (EMSA) CPR certifications are required within 90 days of hire.
