Geartec, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Gear Product Development Engineer to join our team in the industrial gear and gearbox manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in gear manufacturing and repair, and will work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to support the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gearbox Repair and Analysis: Diagnose and determine repair scope for incoming gearboxes to be repaired and used gears for rework.
  • Reverse Engineering: Work with QC inspectors to reverse engineer parts to be repaired or replaced.
  • Disassembly and Cleaning: Coordinate disassembly and cleaning process for gearboxes to ensure timely determination of the scope of work.
  • Reporting and Estimation: Create reports and estimates to assist customer service with quotation process.
  • Manufacturing Support: Review or create manufacturing routings to process component parts, including creating inspection plans as necessary.
  • Technical Support: Provide support to manufacturing, including disassembly and assembly of gearboxes, ensuring all customer requirements are satisfied.
  • Customer Support: Occasional trips to customer sites to review equipment or provide technical presentations.

Requirements:

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or B.S.M.E.T. or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and organization, set goals, ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to interact with all levels of the company.
  • Proficient with 3-D Modeling software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor).
  • Knowledge/experience with gear machining and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in the mechanical drive/power transmission industry preferred (understanding of bearings, shafting, oil seals, and supporting housing).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate with MS Office applications; design experience with Inventor/AutoCad a plus.
