Position Summary

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you will take on a pivotal role as a master technician, showcasing your expertise in product knowledge and quality standards within the branch.

Your mechanical proficiency will be essential in ensuring that the Herc fleet operates efficiently at customer job sites.

Field Service Technicians are dispatched to various local job sites, working autonomously without direct oversight, allowing you to cultivate positive relationships with customers while contributing to community growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and uphold a consistent schedule for preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned equipment at long-term customer job sites.
  • Oversee and execute oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and various other services.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy machinery as necessary to maintain optimal operating conditions at job sites.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
  • Recondition and replace components to restore equipment to safe operational status.
  • Educate clients on the proper usage of equipment to prevent future malfunctions.
  • Assess problem areas for significant wear and address issues to ensure proper equipment usage until the next scheduled maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols at active job sites during repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at job sites.
  • Generate timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
  • Follow all company procedures and protocols.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, and generators.
  • Understanding of detailed technical schematics and owner manuals.
  • Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.
  • Availability to be on call to meet operational needs.
  • A valid driver's license.
Skills
  • Ability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Timely follow-up with customers.
  • Proficient handling of tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Strong customer service skills for effective communication with job site foremen.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions on active job sites.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with basic computer operation capabilities.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $30 to $38 based on experience.
