Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and uphold a systematic schedule for preventative maintenance of all Herc-owned equipment at long-term customer job sites.
  • Supervise and execute oil changes, lubrication tasks, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery changes, and various other services.
  • Identify and rectify issues with heavy machinery to guarantee optimal operational conditions at job sites.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot various systems including fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane.
  • Recondition and replace components to restore equipment to a safe and functional state.
  • Educate clients on the proper operation of equipment to minimize future breakdowns.
  • Assess problem areas for significant wear and tear and address them to ensure proper equipment usage until the next scheduled maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols at active job sites during repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at job sites.
  • Generate timely and detailed service reports and maintenance logs.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Objective:

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you will be recognized as a master technician, taking on a leadership role in product knowledge and quality standards within the branch. Your mechanical expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that Herc's fleet remains in optimal working condition at customer job sites. Field Service Technicians are dispatched to local job sites throughout the day, working independently without direct supervision, which allows for the development of strong customer relationships while contributing to community growth and improvement.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in operating and testing equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, and various generators.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product safety labels.
  • Possession of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.
  • Willingness to be on call to meet operational demands.
  • A valid driver's license.
Skills:
  • Capability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Timely follow-up with customers.
  • Proficient handling of tools in a safe manner.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills for effective communication with job site foremen.
