Position Overview:


The role involves evaluating the living conditions of minors, assessing their physical and emotional well-being, engaging in collaborative committees, and reviewing foster and adoptive placements.


Key Responsibilities:
Conducts preliminary evaluations and assessments of adoption cases.

Documents findings and evaluations of assigned adoption cases for the adoption unit and judicial purposes.

Actively recruits foster and adoptive caregivers. Conducts regular visits to children in care to evaluate their circumstances. Refers families and children to community resources and services. Completes initial evaluations of children and families, implementing tailored treatment strategies. Participates in inquiries regarding cases of abuse and neglect. Prepares comprehensive case reports and documentation, offering recommendations for subsequent actions. Provides protective services as necessary. Coordinates client referrals. Prepares legal documents for court proceedings. Offers transportation assistance to clients for court or medical appointments. Performs additional duties as required.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory; no exceptions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of six months of experience in a related field is necessary.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS


Must hold a valid driver's license with a driving history that meets the Cherokee Nation's underwriting standards.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess knowledge of state legal processes and experience in providing expert testimony on tribal issues.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interpret and apply policy materials, maintain productive working relationships, and utilize critical thinking skills.

Ability to conduct interviews courteously, gather necessary information, evaluate situations, and determine appropriate actions; prioritize and organize client needs; intervene in crisis situations; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team; and develop, assess, and adjust intervention plans as needed.

Proficiency in utilizing legal processes, interviewing techniques, and problem-solving skills to negotiate agreements. Ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS


Employee must not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or the General Services Administration (GSA), nor listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers; or on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

Must have a personal vehicle available at all times to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. Must successfully complete pre-employment and periodic background checks for child care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee frequently needs to sit and use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
