Power Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to urgent requests from operations related to RT SCADA, as well as Work Order inquiries from field and communication technicians, and other stakeholders involved in the transition to an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).
  • Offer technical knowledge and solutions to facilitate the construction, testing, commissioning, and upkeep of RT SCADA systems within the distribution network.
  • Engage in the construction and mapping of various device parameters including analog, status, calculated, virtual, and historical data points.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within SCADA procedural frameworks to support new device installations, upgrades, and replacements.
  • Collaborate with field technicians, automation engineers, communication specialists, and project managers to ensure the effective testing and deployment of devices.
  • Seek guidance from supervisors or senior staff on complex or atypical challenges.
  • Training will be provided for systems specific to the client.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5-10 years of experience with RT SCADA or related systems.
  • Possession of a current and active California Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Experience with RT SCADA systems, including devices such as RTUs, Line-Reclosers, Capacitor Banks, and Circuit Breakers within Distribution Lines and Substations.
  • Understanding of various communication technologies, including digital or radio, TCP/IP, and DNP3 protocols.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation such as Circuit Map Change Sheets and Points Lists to support device testing and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other Windows applications.
