Position Overview

The Library Services Associate plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to library patrons, both in-person and through various communication channels. This position involves assisting with circulation, program facilitation, information inquiries, and technology support.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties
  • Provide guidance and support to library users via face-to-face interactions, phone calls, or electronic correspondence.
  • Assist patrons in navigating library resources and technology, including but not limited to reader's advisory, basic reference inquiries, online catalog usage, MakerSpace, digital collections, public computers, and printing services.
  • Facilitate the registration process for new library users, maintain user accounts, and manage the check-in and check-out of library materials.
  • Process payments for overdue items and other fees, accepting various forms of payment as required.
  • Organize and maintain library collections, ensuring materials are properly shelved according to classification systems.
  • Support the planning and promotion of library programs and services, including outreach efforts.
  • Create promotional materials, displays, and bulletin boards to enhance community engagement.
  • Monitor the condition of returned materials, performing repairs and routing items as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent; and,
  • One (1) year of experience in a library or a related field,
OR
  • A combination of relevant education, experience, certifications, and licenses that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
