We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Library Services Specialist to join our team at the TWU Institute of Health Sciences-Houston Campus Library. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting users in finding library resources, and supporting professional positions in the library.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to users, responding to their inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist users in finding library resources, including books, journals, and online databases, and provide guidance on how to use these resources effectively.
- Support professional positions in the library, including librarians and library staff, by providing administrative assistance and helping to maintain library systems and collections.
- Use library-related computer applications, personal computer applications, and computer equipment on a daily basis to perform tasks such as cataloging, classification, and circulation.
- Compile reports and maintain records and statistical data as directed by library management.
- Assist in the provision of access to library resources, including shelving, shifting, and inventorying physical materials.
- Perform administrative tasks in support of the professional positions in the unit, including handling library mail and performing other duties as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; additional job-related experience and/or education may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Five years of previous library experience preferred; experience working with desktop computer technology required.
- Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
- All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.
