Position: Automation Engineer

Overview

The Equipment Engineering division is tasked with the comprehensive management of equipment lifecycles, including design oversight, modification management, and ongoing support through troubleshooting and training initiatives. This team also oversees the capital expenditure process.

The Automation Engineering team is accountable for all computer systems, networks, and automation related to both direct and indirect manufacturing processes, as well as laboratory and facility systems. Engineers in this department engage in diverse projects that promote continuous learning and collaboration across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer production systems and equipment using both networked and standalone control systems.
  • Monitor, maintain, and repair existing control and monitoring systems, including programmable logic controllers and various software control systems.
  • Support the validation and qualification of computerized or automated systems.
  • Draft, review, and approve change controls for computerized systems, ensuring compliance with validation protocols.
  • Collaborate with process and equipment engineers to ensure automated operation of equipment.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing automation and reducing manual interactions to improve production consistency and safety.
  • Participate in investigations related to system failures and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Develop system management procedures to ensure consistent implementation and training.
  • Contribute to the digital transformation roadmap, focusing on networking, data integration, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight, adhering to project timelines.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in automation engineering within a regulated environment, or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in leading cross-departmental improvement projects is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across various instrumentation and data systems.
  • Ability to innovate and drive process enhancements.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks that involve frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Must comply with environmental health and safety responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in controlled environments as necessary.
