Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Government courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons, evaluating student progress, and maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

This is a part-time, semester-by-semester position, contingent upon student demand. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Political Science/Government or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Political Science/Government.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at various times and locations, create course syllabi, and submit required college reports in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Government courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Political Science/Government or a related field, with 18 graduate hours in Political Science/Government
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and use effective strategies to engage students in their learning
