Job Summary

This role supports the Greater Peoria Family YMCA's mission by providing strategic leadership in financial development, marketing, and communication strategies. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the Mission team, advancing the organization's mission through annual giving, events, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests, and gifts, as well as capital campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Development: Develop, implement, and manage operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Execute strategies to ensure that members and program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  2. Capital Development: Direct and coordinate association capital development, annual campaign, and endowment programs.
  3. Community Engagement: Serve on the Community Awareness and Sustainability Committees (and other assigned committees) of the Board of Directors. Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
  4. Major Gifts: Develop processes and be actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects. Maintain a database resource file on top community leaders.
  5. Grant Writing: Prepare and coordinate proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
  6. Fundraising Policies: Develop appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the association.
  7. Gift Tracking: Track all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provide reports as needed.
  8. Training and Development: Provide training in fundraising. Educate, motivate, and provide feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.
  9. Communication: Develop communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support. Plan and oversee the association annual meeting, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, and reports.
  10. Representation: Represent the association as required by the President & CEO.
Marketing Responsibilities
  1. Marketing Plan: Develop annual operating goals, objectives, and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitor the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
  2. Program Promotion: Develop, produce, and distribute program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.
  3. Social Media: Maintain the YMCA's presence across all social media.
  4. Content Development: Develop and edit marketing and communications content to be used in printed, video, and digital media – experience in Adobe Photoshop and Premier preferred.
  5. Media Relations: Establish contacts with media representatives and write and submit press releases when appropriate. Maintain updated files of YMCA's media relations (both press and electronic).
  6. Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and administer assigned annual budget and maintain a positive fiscal position.
  7. Community Engagement: Develop effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations, and companies. Make presentations about the YMCA.
  8. Staff Supervision: Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise assigned staff and volunteers. Provide development and leadership.
  9. Statistics and Reports: Provide and maintain related statistics and reports.
  10. Special Events: May plan and coordinate special events.
Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

2. One or more years of professional experience with a background in fund raising in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.

3. Ability to relate to community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

4. Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.

5. Ability to tell the story of the YMCA enabling potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.

6. Knowledge of the media and its use in gaining exposure for YMCA events and programs.

7. Foundation and government grant writing expertise.

8. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

9. Must have good interpersonal, public relations, and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.

Compensation details: $48,600-$60,800 Yearly Salary
