Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Director of Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating philanthropic support for the UVA Parents Program as part of the Honor the Future campaign.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to include special events, communications, annual campaigns, and major gift strategies.
  • Travel nationally to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects.
  • Collaborate with other fundraisers in the department and across the University in overall relationship building of alumni, parents, and friends to ensure a coordinated approach for prospects and donors and to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation plans.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least three years of related experience for Assistant Director, or five years of related experience for the Associate Director level.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel nationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exceptional communication skills, a high degree of personal integrity and the ability to keep the big picture in focus while attending to the small details.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating high-level relationships.
  • Experience using data to evaluate and plan.
  • Experience in higher education development with a track record of closing five-figure (Assistant) or six-figure (Associate) figure gifts.

This is a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. The successful candidate must be able to travel frequently domestically and be available for occasional evening and weekend work.

UVA Advancement offers a flexible and hybrid workplace. All team members must have access to and maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service and work collaboratively with others using a variety of technologies and tools.

This is an Exempt level, benefited position. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range: $60K - $67K for Assistant Director or $70K - $77K for Associate Director, commensurate with education and experience.
