Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Ensemble Health Partners. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at our hospital. This role requires excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs) and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
  • Provide proper patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool to ensure accurate data entry
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
  • Adhere to policies and provide excellent customer service in all interactions
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accurate accounts and provide statistical data to leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound and outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and other patient information
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians and obtain necessary signatures and witnesses' names
  • Review eligibility responses in insurance verification systems and select applicable insurance plan codes
  • Responsible for accurately screening medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software and distributing ABNs as needed
Requirements
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire (company-paid)
