Job Overview

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Completion of a 40-hour Personal Care Aide certification or possession of a Certified Nursing Assistant license in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  2. A minimum of one year of experience in caring for frail or elderly individuals.
  3. Adherence to all applicable State and Federal regulations for direct patient care personnel.
  4. Possession of a valid driver's license.
  5. Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
  6. Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  7. Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations.
  8. Preference for candidates with prior experience working with older adults who hold a Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and dressing.
  2. Provide routine skin and wound care that does not necessitate sterile techniques.
  3. Support participants with toileting, transferring, and ambulation, which may involve lifting over 40 pounds.
  4. Assist with nutritional needs, including prompting, cutting food, and feeding, in accordance with dietary recommendations.
  5. Offer assistance with medication as approved by the interdisciplinary team.
  6. Monitor and record vital signs as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
  7. Assist with individual activities of daily living, including light housekeeping, as authorized.
  8. Accompany participants to essential medical appointments when authorized.
  9. Provide supervision or respite for participants requiring physical presence for safety.
  10. Administer physician-ordered bowel and bladder programs under supervision.
  11. Conduct range of motion exercises as instructed by nursing or therapy staff.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding participant information.
  13. Complete a minimum of twelve hours of training annually as required.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Compliance with PACE Aide requirements.
  2. Physical capability to perform job duties.
  3. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact courteously with participants.
  5. Reliable transportation to and from work assignments.
  6. Accessibility to a telephone and willingness to work flexible hours.
  7. Demonstration of good work ethics.
  8. Adherence to all HIPAA requirements and maintenance of confidentiality.
