Compassionate Personal Care Provider

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a 40-hour Personal Care Aide certification or possession of a Certified Nursing Assistant license in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- A minimum of one year of experience in caring for frail or elderly individuals.
- Adherence to all applicable State and Federal regulations for direct patient care personnel.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations.
- Preference for candidates with prior experience working with older adults who hold a Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and dressing.
- Provide routine skin and wound care that does not necessitate sterile techniques.
- Support participants with toileting, transferring, and ambulation, which may involve lifting over 40 pounds.
- Assist with nutritional needs, including prompting, cutting food, and feeding, in accordance with dietary recommendations.
- Offer assistance with medication as approved by the interdisciplinary team.
- Monitor and record vital signs as directed by the interdisciplinary team.
- Assist with individual activities of daily living, including light housekeeping, as authorized.
- Accompany participants to essential medical appointments when authorized.
- Provide supervision or respite for participants requiring physical presence for safety.
- Administer physician-ordered bowel and bladder programs under supervision.
- Conduct range of motion exercises as instructed by nursing or therapy staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding participant information.
- Complete a minimum of twelve hours of training annually as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Compliance with PACE Aide requirements.
- Physical capability to perform job duties.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact courteously with participants.
- Reliable transportation to and from work assignments.
- Accessibility to a telephone and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Demonstration of good work ethics.
- Adherence to all HIPAA requirements and maintenance of confidentiality.
