Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Inspector to join our team at Summit Fire & Security. As a Fire Protection Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes, utilizing a working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
  • Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and customers in a professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, as well as offsite monitoring companies.
  • Operate and maintain tools required for inspections, including heat and smoke detector kits, backflow kits, and pump equipment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled in a timely manner.
  • Be available for on-call status to handle emergency service and inspection requests.
  • Maintain company-provided vehicles in a clean and well-maintained condition, adhering to company policies.
  • Ensure all assigned tools are safeguarded and maintained.
  • Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in weekly Toolbox talks and maintain knowledge of safety documentation.
  • Attend seminars to stay updated on changing technology, installation, and testing approaches.
  • Train inspector trainees in fire protection aspects.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • NICET and/or state certification required based on location; preferred if not required.
  • 3-5 years' experience inspecting fire protection systems required; 5+ years' experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, customer service skills, decision-making skills, ability to multitask, and meet project schedules.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience with computer, tablet, and electronic blueprints required; experience with SalesForce and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Compliance with SFS's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
