Join Our Team as an Internal Medicine Residency Program Director

Adventist Health Tulare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Internal Medicine Residency Program as Program Director. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of medical education, mentor residents, and contribute to the advancement of internal medicine within our institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Internal Medicine curriculum that meets the requirements of the State of California, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, American Board of Internal Medicine, and the sponsoring institution.
  • Mentor and support the teaching faculty, ensuring their academic appointments, assignments, professionalism, engagement, and overall effectiveness of their educational activities.
  • Recruit, retain, and promote a high-caliber resident body, reflective of the community they serve, who exhibit a commitment to excellence in whole-person patient care, demonstrate competency in scholarly activity, display high ethics and professionalism, and actively participate in their own medical education and that of others.
  • Cultivate a psychologically safe working and learning environment for the residents, allowing them to confidentially raise concerns and provide feedback without fear of intimidation or retaliation.
  • Develop and manage a residency budget that ensures the availability of adequate ACGME-required resources to facilitate resident education and scholarly activity.
  • Establish and maintain an education liaison with community-based and academic teaching institutions, as required.

Requirements:

  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid and unrestricted medical license from the State of California.
  • Shall have completed an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine.
  • Shall be certified/maintain certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine Physicians.
  • 3-5 years of Internal Medicine education and/or administrative experience, preferably as a Director, Associate Director, Site Director, or Core Faculty member of an Internal Medicine Residency Training Program.
