Position Overview:
This role is centered in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The Major Gifts Officer is tasked with overseeing a diverse portfolio of significant contributors, including major donors, family foundations, and corporate partners. This position involves the entire donor lifecycle, from identification and cultivation to engagement, solicitation, and stewardship. As a key relationship manager, the Major Gifts Officer will maintain a portfolio of approximately 125 donors, utilizing tailored outreach strategies to enhance donor retention and encourage increased contributions through meaningful interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of major donors, identifying innovative giving opportunities.
- Enhance and deepen relationships with key stakeholders.
- Prioritize donor engagement based on their giving capacity and potential for further involvement.
- Effectively manage donor relationships through strategic information sharing.
- Craft compelling messaging for major donors and other funding sources.
- Collaborate with the Giving Team to strategize donor meeting objectives.
- Schedule and lead meetings with donors, aiming to secure significant contributions.
- Work closely with leadership to identify prospects for increased engagement and solicitation.
- Analyze data to identify new prospects, cultivating and securing major gift donations.
- Represent Connecticut Foodshare at various events to promote our mission.
- Monitor donor engagement and generate regular reports to assess progress towards fundraising goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimize donor interactions.
- Assist with additional fundraising initiatives and events as necessary.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects involving portfolio donors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must reside in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
- Experience working with donors in the region is essential.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or 6 years of equivalent experience.
- Background in the non-profit sector is preferred.
- Proven experience in soliciting and securing five-figure donations.
- Established connections with funders and networks are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of progressively responsible experience.
- Certification as a Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) is a plus.
- Experience with moves management and CRM systems for tracking donor interactions.
