About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Counter Sales Representative to join our team at American Welding and Gas. As a Counter Sales Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with ordering and purchasing products, and performing various administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Support customer experience in store and via phone, assisting with ordering and purchasing products through cash and charge account transactions.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist with daily transaction reconciliation, filing, end of day processing, and opening/closing the store.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure inventory is organized and properly stored in the warehouse, and stock showroom as needed.
  • Receiving and Processing: Receive and process inbound freight, including logging, receiving purchase orders, and filling backorders.
  • Sales and Budgeting: Assist branch manager in achieving and/or surpassing targeted budgeted sales projections.
  • Maintenance and Equipment: Assist branch manager with building and equipment maintenance.
  • Cylinder Management: Conduct cylinder exchanges, purchases, and returns, and fill various types of cylinders.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain fill records to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Prepare outbound freight for delivery, including picking, packing, and staging for loading on trucks and/or shipping via other means.
  • Operational Support: Ability to operate a forklift and follow and comply with all company safety policies.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED.
  • Experience: Previous customer services experience required.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of welding processes and gas supplies preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift 75 pounds, maneuver 100+ pounds with mechanical assistance, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills preferred.
  • Personal Qualities: Detail oriented, team player, and adaptable.
  • Driving Record: Must have a clean driving record.
