Job Summary

As a key member of the St. Elizabeth HealthCare team, the Nurse Coordinator will play a vital role in facilitating efficient patient movement within the hospital. This position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bed Placement and Management: Timely placement of beds for internal and external requests, ensuring optimal patient flow and minimizing delays.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Provide direction and guidance to healthcare providers to achieve patient movement goals, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and adhering to patient-centered care principles.
  • Discharge and Transfer Coordination: Work with MDs, Care Coordinators, and software systems to ensure timely coordination of discharge and transfer, ensuring patients move efficiently through the system.
  • Departmental Support: Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals, prioritizing tasks effectively in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Transfer and Admission Support: Assist with the transfer of patients to higher or lower levels of care, serving as a contact person for bed management and admission concerns.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with clinical unit nursing staff, physicians, and other departments regarding bed placement, patient flow, and transfer processes.
  • Financial Acumen: Understand the financial impact of decisions regarding access and resource utilization, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility, problem-solving, and customer service skills, with the ability to work various shifts and adapt to changing circumstances.
Requirements
  • Education and Credentials: BSN or BS in a related field, with a current RN license in the state where work is being performed.
  • Experience: Two years of nursing experience, including one year in Critical Care, TCU, ICU, or Emergency Department settings, as well as one year of supervisory or management experience.
