Job Overview

The Kitchen Sanitation Associate is responsible for executing all tasks related to dishwashing and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen environment. At Whole Foods Market, every role is crucial in maintaining a positive image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and Team Members consistently. All responsibilities must align with the established Standard Operating Procedures of the team and store. Team Members are expected to be adaptable and ready to perform duties from various job descriptions as needed. Moreover, all positions should actively support the core values and objectives of Whole Foods Market, promote various programs and initiatives, and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, including Food Safety and other regulatory responsibilities pertinent to the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleans, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves within the kitchen area.
  • Aids in kitchen deliveries, ensuring proper storage, organization, and rotation of products.
  • Arrives at the work station punctually, well-groomed, dressed appropriately, and ready to work; fulfills all scheduled shifts and participates in required training and meetings.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service, promptly addressing customer needs and demonstrating effective selling techniques; answers phones and pages in a courteous manner.
  • Enhances sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.
  • Complies with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensures equipment is kept in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Executes opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; verifies accuracy of signage and pricing.
  • Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Experience Requirements

  • No prior retail experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Capability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require the use of ladders.

The wage range for this position is $25.40 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers a comprehensive benefits package, which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for a store discount, paid time off, and access to other benefit programs. Eligibility for benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable benefits plan at the time of hire.
