Job Overview

As a vital member of our culinary team, the Kitchen Sanitation Associate is responsible for executing all tasks related to dishwashing and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen environment. At Whole Foods Market, we prioritize a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and Team Members consistently. All roles must be performed in alignment with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, Team Members should be prepared to undertake responsibilities inherent in other job descriptions within the team. We strive to uphold WFM core values and objectives, promote national, regional, and store initiatives, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including Food Safety and regulatory duties specific to the department.

Key Responsibilities

Efficiently washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares. Maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves within the kitchen area. Assists with kitchen deliveries, ensuring proper storage, organization, and rotation of products. Arrives at the work station punctually, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; fulfills all scheduled shifts and participates in required training and meetings. Provides outstanding customer service, promptly addressing customer needs and modeling suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages in a courteous and timely manner. Enhances sales potential through effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products. Adheres to established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. Ensures a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment according to WFM cleanliness and safety standards. Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; verifies accuracy of signs and pricing. * Reports safety hazards and violations immediately. Executes other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Experience Requirements

No prior retail experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours. Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling. Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure to varying temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Ability to work in both wet and dry conditions. Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery. May require the use of ladders.
