Position Overview

At The General, we are seeking a Lead Casualty Claims Adjuster to oversee and manage intricate casualty claims. Your role will involve assessing liability, gathering information, reviewing coverage details, coordinating appraisals, and finalizing claims settlements.

You will report directly to the Claims Manager.

Compensation Details

Position Compensation Range: $67,000.00 - $111,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic work location.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Investigating and resolving vehicle accident claims via phone and written communication.
  • Managing both 1st and 3rd party claims, including complex coverage and liability assessments.
  • Handling moderate injury claims, both attorney-represented and non-represented.
  • Evaluating policy coverage, liability, and damages promptly, adhering to established claim and statutory guidelines.
  • Providing assistance to internal and external customers regarding claims inquiries.
  • Establishing initial reserves for potential exposures and adjusting as necessary throughout the claim process.
  • Conducting thorough investigations, which may involve obtaining essential documents and conducting recorded statements.
  • Ensuring the completion of appraisals and determining damages related to accidents.
  • Communicating with involved parties to negotiate suitable settlements within approved payment authority.
  • Identifying recovery opportunities related to subrogation and salvage.
  • Evaluating and settling bodily injury claims within designated authority limits.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in handling Casualty Claims, including attorney-represented and Bodily Injury Claims.
  • Preferred experience in non-standard auto insurance.
  • Strong understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the claim handling process.
  • Employment offer contingent upon successful background checks and signing a non-disclosure agreement.

Licensing Requirements
  • Must obtain any necessary state-specific property casualty claims licensing.
Travel Expectations
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

This position is primarily home-based, with 80% of your time spent working remotely. Candidates must reside within a specified radius of designated offices.
