Position Overview:
At The General, we are seeking a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster to manage and resolve intricate liability claims. In this role, you will assess responsibility, gather pertinent information, review coverage options, coordinate appraisals, and finalize claims settlements.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $67,000 - $111,000. Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations and resolve vehicle accident claims via phone and written communication.
- Manage both first-party and third-party claims, determining complex coverage and liability issues.
- Handle claims involving moderate injuries, including those represented by attorneys and those that are not.
- Evaluate and investigate policy coverage, liability, and damages promptly, adhering to established guidelines.
- Assist customers with inquiries regarding claims through various communication channels.
- Establish initial reserves for potential exposures and adjust as necessary throughout the claims process.
- Utilize a cost-effective strategy to evaluate and settle claims.
- Maintain proper management of assigned claims inventory in accordance with company policies.
- Conduct investigations, which may involve obtaining necessary documentation and conducting recorded statements.
- Ensure appraisals are completed and determine damages related to accidents.
- Negotiate settlements with claimants, insured parties, and attorneys within authorized payment limits.
- Identify recovery opportunities related to subrogation and salvage.
- Evaluate and settle bodily injury claims within designated authority.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience handling casualty claims, including those represented by attorneys and bodily injury claims.
- Preferred experience in non-standard auto insurance.
- Strong understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the claims handling process.
- Employment offer contingent upon successful background checks and signing a non-disclosure agreement.
- Applicants requiring employment sponsorship are not eligible for this position.
Licensing:
- Must obtain any required state-specific property casualty claims licensing.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel up to 10% may be required.

This role is primarily home-based, with 80% of your time spent working remotely. Candidates must reside within specified distances from designated offices.
