Position Overview:
Join our dedicated team at Mill Creek Animal Clinic as a Receptionist. We pride ourselves on providing personalized care in a full-service veterinary environment.

We are expanding our exceptional team and are in search of another Receptionist. While prior veterinary experience is advantageous, we are open to training the right candidate.


Shift Information:
This role is part-time (under 30 hours/week), involving a mix of daytime and afternoon shifts, including some Saturdays.

Compensation:
$19.00/hour (commensurate with experience)

Ideal Candidate:

We seek an individual with a strong background in customer service, who possesses a friendly demeanor, excels at multitasking, and maintains organization.

Veterinary experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Role Summary:

The Receptionist serves as the initial and final point of contact for clients, playing a crucial role in establishing positive first and lasting impressions.

Exceptional client service and communication skills, computer proficiency, financial transaction handling, multitasking abilities, a warm attitude, and the confidence to manage stressful situations are essential for this role.

The Receptionist will assist veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care.

Welcome clients and their pets with a smile and a proactive, solution-focused approach.


Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system; address client inquiries regarding basic animal care, routine procedures, veterinary services, and products, while providing informed advice on wellness and disease prevention.


Direct calls to the appropriate personnel; take and relay messages promptly, and retrieve medical records for accurate documentation.

Schedule appointments and surgeries in accordance with clinic protocols and confirm appointments and surgeries with clients.


Document details from client conversations in medical records, including date, time, key discussion points, and any necessary information.


Accurately process charges; clarify invoices to demonstrate the value of services rendered, detailing all services and products provided prior to the total; reiterate veterinarians' recommendations during client check-out.


Collect payments upon service completion, including processing credit cards and verifying identification for checks.

Verify client eligibility for charge accounts.


Ensure medical and computer records are accurate, including client contact information, and scan necessary documents into patient records.

Provide clients with routine care instructions.

Advise clients on preventative measures for fleas/ticks, heartworm, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, and recommend retail products.

Familiarity with veterinary terminology is necessary—ability to pronounce, spell, and understand meanings.

Excellent spelling and grammar skills are required.

Ability to manage varied and sometimes challenging situations; exposure to emotionally charged circumstances is expected.

Display tact and respect towards clients and team members, even in busy or stressful times.


Maintain a confident, calm, and professional demeanor with clients and staff during high-pressure situations.


A genuine affinity for animals and their owners, along with a passion for working in the animal care field, is essential.
