Shift Information:
This role is a full-time position (30+ hours/week).
Clinic Operating Hours:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday - 8:00am - 7:00pm
Tuesday & Thursday - 8:00am - 6:00pm
No Weekends
Compensation:
$22.00/hour (commensurate with experience)

Job Responsibilities:
The Receptionist serves as the initial and final point of contact for clients, playing a key role in creating positive first and lasting impressions.
The Receptionist must possess outstanding client service and communication skills, computer proficiency, the ability to manage financial transactions, multitasking capabilities, a friendly demeanor, and the confidence to handle stressful situations.
The Receptionist will assist veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care.Key Responsibilities:

Welcome clients and pets by name with a warm smile and a positive, solution-oriented approach.
Answer phone calls promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system; respond to client inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures, questions about veterinary services and products, and provide knowledgeable advice on wellness, prevention, and diseases.
Screen and direct calls to the appropriate staff; take and relay messages promptly, pulling medical records of patients for accurate documentation.
Document details discussed during client conversations in medical records, including date, time, key points, and any necessary information.
Enter accurate charges; explain invoices to demonstrate the value of care provided, clearly stating all services and products rendered before the total; echo veterinarians' recommendations during client check-out.
Collect payments when services are rendered, including making change for cash payments, processing credit cards, and verifying proper identification for checks.
Check medical and computer records for accurate client addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, and scan appropriate new documents into patients' medical records.
Advise clients on flea/tick prevention, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
Qualifications:
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient computer skills required, including keyboarding and use of communication tools (e-mail/internet).
Working knowledge of veterinary terminology is essential—must be able to pronounce, spell, and understand the meaning.
Excellent spelling and grammar skills are necessary.
Ability to manage varied and sometimes challenging situations; will encounter highly emotional circumstances.
Ability to exhibit tact and respect towards clients and team members, even during busy or hectic times.
Ability to maintain a confident, calm, and professional demeanor with clients and staff in stressful situations and while focusing on individual tasks.
Must genuinely enjoy working with animals and their owners in the animal care field.
