Job Summary

The Pediatric Sedation/PICC Service Nurse Practitioner is responsible for facilitating a safe and quality sedation and/or vascular access experience and outcome for patients within a cost-effective time frame.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of patients in partnership with the Sedation team to optimize safe sedation delivery and vascular access as well as timely completion of required tests and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the delivery of safe pediatric sedation and vascular access services.
  • Assist the Sedation team to achieve mutually agreed upon Sedation goals by providing necessary support, education, and encouragement.
  • Perform advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure.
Requirements
  • Masters of Science Degree Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to pediatric patients with consideration of human development stages and cultural patterns across the spectrum of pediatric health and disease.
  • Two years related experience as RN in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years experience as a nurse practitioner.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.
