OUR VISION

Envision a transformative healthcare experience for cancer patients, where individuals and their families feel acknowledged, supported, and valued by their care teams, both within and outside clinical settings. A world where prompt access to superior care is standard practice, not an exception. Where patients are equipped with a care navigator to assist them through their diagnosis and provide trusted support throughout their journey.

Currently recognized as a leader in cancer care navigation, Thyme Care is on the path to becoming a nationally acknowledged technology-driven and provider-focused care delivery model, reshaping the cancer care landscape in terms of access, delivery, and overall experience. Our commitment is profound—we are not content with the current state of affairs; we are resolute in our mission to redefine it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Vice President of Legal & Compliance, you will report directly to the CEO and oversee the legal and compliance functions within the organization. Your role will be pivotal in fostering growth by collaborating with external-facing teams (payers, providers, strategic partnerships) and offering strategic internal legal counsel. You will manage intricate transactions, ensure adherence to regulations, and contribute to the formulation and implementation of the company’s strategic objectives. In this capacity, you will be a vital member of Thyme Care's leadership team, collaborating closely with other functional leaders to propel the overall success of the organization.

  • Develop and lead the legal and compliance department.
  • Collaborate with external teams to navigate complex transactions and strategic alliances.
  • Provide legal counsel on compliance, risk management, and data strategy.
  • Advise the Product, Clinical, and People teams on the legal ramifications of new initiatives.
  • Assess and manage external legal counsel, ensuring appropriate expertise is utilized.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to the executive team and Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Reviewed, negotiated, and finalized various agreements, including payer contracts, partnerships, NDAs, and business associate agreements.
  • Evaluated and engaged external legal experts to facilitate business expansion.
  • Acquired a comprehensive understanding of the business model and led complex transactions with payers and providers.
  • Established yourself as a key member of the leadership team, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Built and nurtured a legal team, implemented a compliance program, and established legal processes that enable efficient deal flow and strategic advice delivery.

SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Expertise in the field. You possess a JD and are licensed to practice law. With at least 10 years of experience, you have worked in both law firm and in-house environments. Your legal career has predominantly focused on supporting or leading value and risk-based contracting and payer transactions within the healthcare sector, particularly in a startup context. You are adept at navigating risk and regulation and assessing and managing risk to guide the business towards achieving its goals and advancing its mission. A deep understanding of complex regulatory environments and compliance in the healthcare industry is essential (HIPAA, fraud & abuse laws, governance, IP, transactions, security, employment, etc.). Experience in oncology is a plus.
  • Adaptability to change. You have a proven history of success in scaling businesses, thriving in fast-paced environments, and navigating the challenges of startups. You recognize that rapid changes to business strategies, organizational structures, and priorities are commonplace.
  • Collaborative spirit. You are an effective communicator, building rapport and strong working relationships with senior leaders, colleagues, investors, and customers to drive business outcomes. You provide clear, concise, creative, and principled legal advice.
  • Leadership capabilities. You have experience leading a team and have successfully coached and developed them into high performers. You understand the dynamics of scaling a function and organization rapidly.
  • Results-oriented. You are action-oriented, process-driven, and focused on achieving results. You account for uncertainties and recover well from setbacks. You are capable of working independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of projects.
  • Patient-centered mindset. You are personally motivated by our mission and the work we are doing. You demonstrate empathy and a desire to understand challenges and assist individuals in resolving them, particularly in the context of cancer care.
