iHeartMedia, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our Legal Affairs/Contracts team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for negotiating employment contracts with opposing counsel and/or agents, preparing and drafting high-volume contracts for on-air and podcast talent, programming employees, and executives. You will also analyze issues and provide strategic advice and transaction expertise with our business teams. Additionally, you will build and maintain direct talent relationships as well as agent/attorney relationships for our broadcast, programming, and podcast talent. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining and expanding strong working relationships with our local markets, networks, Premiere Networks, and podcast teams. You will support the Senior Vice President, Talent Affairs, with oversight and management of standards, policies, and best practices for all talent deal negotiations, contract administration, and reporting. You will also support our Company's contract management system and advise and counsel assigned markets on any broadcast operations issues, questions, and/or projects related to programming talent. Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate employment contracts with opposing counsel and/or agents
  • Prepare and draft high-volume contracts for on-air and podcast talent, programming employees, and executives
  • Analyze issues and provide strategic advice and transaction expertise with our business teams
  • Build and maintain direct talent relationships as well as agent/attorney relationships for our broadcast, programming, and podcast talent
  • Maintain and expand strong working relationships with our local markets, networks, Premiere Networks, and podcast teams
  • Support the Senior Vice President, Talent Affairs, with oversight and management of standards, policies, and best practices for all talent deal negotiations, contract administration, and reporting
  • Support our Company's contract management system
  • Advise and counsel assigned markets on any broadcast operations issues, questions, and/or projects related to programming talent
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and 6+ years of legal experience in a U.S. Law firm or an in-house legal position
  • Admitted to practice law from any state within the United States and in good standing
  • Experience negotiating with opposing counsel, and also preferably with talent agents
  • Experience drafting contracts, in particular, employment and/or entertainment deals
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and a self-starter
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Be a quick learner in a high-paced environment and be able to retain information quickly
  • Able to prioritize urgent requests or time-sensitive contracts
  • Be prompt with responses to business and team members
  • Ability to work with senior management
  • Familiarity with a contract management system is a plus
