TEACHING FACULTY MEMBER IN AGRICULTURAL AND BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

Role Overview: The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE) at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications for a teaching faculty member dedicated to instructing various courses and taking on the responsibilities of the Biological Engineering Undergraduate Program Coordinator. This is a non-tenure-track faculty role that will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, focusing entirely on teaching duties. The successful candidate will be tasked with delivering several undergraduate courses in Biological Engineering and will serve as the coordinator for the undergraduate major in this field. We are looking for an exceptional individual with a proven track record in engaging and advising undergraduate students, along with a strong desire to support their academic needs. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in closely collaborating with undergraduate students and maintaining high standards in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for teaching courses such as: (i) BE 1-Seminar; BE 301-Mathematical Modeling of Biological and Physical Systems; BE 465-Food and Biological Process Engineering; and co-teaching BE 460W-Biological Engineering Design I and BE 466W-Biological Engineering Design II. Additional responsibilities as the Biological Engineering Program Coordinator include: engaging with prospective students as the BE Recruitment Events Coordinator; assigning students to faculty advisers; collaborating with the Engineering Advising Center; participating in the Undergraduate Studies Curricular Review Committee; contributing to the Instruction and Curriculum Affairs Committee (ICAC); organizing the ABE Department's involvement in the Engineering New Student Orientation; and participating in ABET accreditation activities related to the BE major. The coordinator will also manage the recruitment of undergraduate students and prepare requests for learning assistant funding support.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Agricultural/Biological Engineering or a related field is required. The successful candidate must hold an engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program. Strong writing and oral communication skills are essential. A successful teaching background and enthusiasm for student interaction, both in classroom settings and during advising sessions, are crucial. Candidates must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.
